High impact -- in addition to contributing to the success of our corporate strategic initiatives, you'll be in a position to have a positive affect on the professional lives of all our people.

Who We Are
The Employers Group is the nation's largest and oldest nonprofit employer association dedicated to Human Resource management. We were formed in 1896 as the Merchants and Manufacturer's Association, and since those early years we have kept pace with the rapid evolution of the Human Resources industry. Today, we serve thousands of California employers with a comprehensive suite of services and products. Our clients are HR executives and professionals, and they view us as a trusted advisor -- a partner who anticipates their needs and provides effective guidance and solutions.
Our organization is well known and respected among California HR professionals, and our products and services are cutting edge. For more information, please visit www.employersgroup.com.
Your Role
Reporting directly to our President/CEO, you'll provide service and support with regard to employee relations; recruitment; payroll; benefit costing, negotiation and administration; contract interpretation and administration; training; and employment equity programs. While you'll collaborate with third party administrators with regard to many of these areas, issues generally are initiated at your desk, and you'll act as intermediary between the employee and the administrator. As you might imagine, pivotal to your success in this role will be your ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
In addition to your day-to-day activities, you'll be able to make an impact right off the bat with regard to two strategic initiatives: promoting the optimal culture to complement our recent organizational "re-engineering," and the implementation of a new HRIS application.
Organizational Re-engineering
With a focus on where we want to be tomorrow, and given the economic realities of the past few years, we have applied fresh entrepreneurial thought to almost every aspect of our business. Change always presents challenges, and as you interact with all of our employees you'll be in a position to model the energy and vitality of the new culture, and help employees embrace our new business model and share our enthusiasm for its potential to take us to the next level of success.
HRIS Implementation
We're in the process of brining online eeAccess, the same Integrated payroll/HR software package we sell to customers. A customized version of UltiPro, eeAccess combines a web-based, hosted payroll/HRMS system with our expertise in compliance and other HR services. In addition to providing data for our programmers, you'll collaborate with the software supplier to develop and deliver training to ensure that employees learn how to access the software's self-service features -- as you well know, this software has the potential to free up valuable time for you.
Your activities will include:
- Advising and assisting executives, directors and managers with performance management practices, employee relations, grievances, attendance, discipline, and terminations.
- Ensuring all HR policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance with pertinent regulatory requirements, including DOL statistics, SDI, and EDD.
- Administering benefits, including cost analyses, understanding and interpreting all SPDs, benefit renewal and open enrollment, problem solving, and maintaining defined benefit pensions as well as 125, 457, and 401(k) plans.
- Maintaining complete hardcopy and electronic records and files regarding current and former employees
- Driving recruitment and retention strategies, including facilitating and/or providing training and orientation, and conducting exit interviews.
You'll also maintain strong and open working relationships with several, diverse client groups, including and fairly large number of pensioned retirees and COBRA participants. The service you provide them will vary from supplying updated information to troubleshooting issues.
Keys to Success
Providing HR support to HR professionals can have its ups and downs. While your clients can also be resources, you'll need to be sure you have a prevailing command of laws, policies, and procedures. You'll also find that ours is a group that enjoys interacting with the HR Manager, and to be successful you'll maintain an open door policy and leverage your strong interpersonal skills to manage employee relationships. In addition, to excel in this role you will operate autonomously, remain flexible, and motivate yourself to succeed.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
